Expert Tips to Make Home Organization Truly Functional & Beautiful

When organizing your home, you don’t have to choose between function and beauty. Good news, right? While it can seem like a struggle, form and function don’t have to be at odds. The key is mapping a clear path of organization that helps you achieve a more beautiful and functional home environment. Here are some ways I help my clients merge their goals of organizing and aesthetics.

Professional Home Organizer in Claremont California organized kitchen drawers

Tip #1: Curate Solutions that are Colorful & Sophisticated

It’s a delightful experience to open a drawer or cabinet and see the design style of the home extended into the storage spaces. These thoughtful and harmonious details have the potential to spark joy each time you open your cabinets, drawers, and closets. Sourcing organizing products that harmonize with the rest of your home is part of my shopping service and all inclusive package pricing. Bonus: finding organizing solutions you love helps motivate you to maintain the space because the visuals are so rewarding!

Tip #2: Layer in Textures that are Luxe & Timeless

Depending on the location, it can be a great choice to use fabric bins, woven baskets, or other textured materials to categorize your belongings. The kitchen is a great place for glass and high-quality acrylics, whereas closets and bookshelves are often better suited to more textured storage solutions. I’ll help you consider the available products and how they’ll look—and work—in your space. We can often collect and repurpose existing containers in your home, and older containers might be “downgraded” to a garage or storage area, freeing up budget for the more visible storage areas, such as kitchen cabinets and high impact areas such as the primary closet.

Tip #3: Repurpose Items that are Personal & Unique

One of my favorite experiences when working with clients is to hear the stories behind some of their cherished belongings. It’s so fulfilling when we’re able to incorporate a personal piece into the structure of their newly organized home. We might use a bowl or tray purchased abroad as part of the daily drop zone, or display keepsake stem wear on a high cabinet shelf where they can enjoy fond memories each day. When we’re decluttering, we will be sure to preserve those personal and unique items that give your home warmth and tell your story to family and guests alike.

Tip #4: Easily Disguise Things that are Daily Essentials

Depending on your household and daily routines, you may have a large number of active use items that you don’t want on open display. These categories might include: makeup, sports equipment, kids’ toys, pantry backstock, or supplements and medications. However, since they are useful and important in your everyday life, we will find ways to stash those essentials at point of use without cluttering up your precious counter space. Each situation is unique, but it’s worth taking the time to make your daily routines easy by collecting everything needed in one spot. And if that spot is tucked away out of sight, it also makes preparing for guests—or the housekeeper—that much easier. I help my clients by designing systems that prioritize easy tidy-ups which result in peace of mind.

Professional Home Organizer in Rancho Cucamonga helps create tidy homes with practical storage solutions

I love it when a home expresses the unique personality of those who live there. Home organization shouldn’t be one size fits all, but should be customized to your household’s current needs and aesthetic preferences. Doing a little work upfront to source the right products and solutions will make a big difference in your day-to-day happiness in your home.
